Day 4 continued…
After our visit to the Alien Research Center, Devin and I headed north on the 318 toward Ely, Nevada and the Ward Charcoal Ovens.
The Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park is located near the Egan Mountain Range. The charcoal ovens were used from 1876 – 1879 to help process silver ore that was discovered in the area. Once the mining dried up, the ovens served as a shelter for the weary traveler and may have even housed the occasional stagecoach bandit.
We arrived right at sunset, which lit the sky up with hues of blues and pinks, allowing for a dramatic and beautiful backdrop against the old ovens.
Amazing pictures as always.
Thank you so much Curt. 🙂
