On Saturday I got to spend the day with some of my family at the Philomath Frolic & Rodeo. This was my first year attending this event, and it was such a great time! We ventured our way to the classic car show first, and boy were there some beauties. You sure don’t see automobiles like this anymore. Every one of them is a work of art.
We were there as the car show was ending, and it was so fun to hear these cars revved to life as they paraded their way by us to make there way home.
After watching all the incredible vintage vehicles leave the high school, we ventured over to the fair and rodeo grounds where we watched lumberjacks compete in ax throwing, log rolling, sawing and cutting.
After taking in what the Frolic had to offer and eating some delicious fair food, we made our way to the grand stand for the main event. There is something about going to a rodeo that embodies small town, down to earth, summertime fun. There is a sense of American pride as you watch a cowgirl gallup around the arena with the American flag whipping out behind her. You can feel the energy surge up through the arena dirt as cowboys and cowgirls achieve amazing feats on the backs of animals that outweigh them by a ton. Call it crazy, call it impressive, maybe a little of both…all I know is they look pretty badass out there, as the crowd cheers them on.
